When the thinning is right on top
For a lot of women, hair loss doesn’t show up evenly. It shows up at the crown, or along the part, in the exact spot you see every time you look in the mirror. You still have hair, just not where you want it most.
That’s where a topper earns its keep. It puts coverage precisely where you’ve thinned, and it does it in minutes, with nothing bonded or sewn into your own hair.
What a topper actually is
A topper is a hair piece, smaller than a wig, that sits over a specific area of your scalp to add density and coverage there. It clips or secures in place, blends into your surrounding hair, and comes off again whenever you want. Think of it as filling in one area beautifully rather than reworking your whole head.
I’m certified in Confidence with Crown, a system built specifically around this kind of crown and part coverage. That certification is one of nine I hold, and it’s the one I lean on when a client’s loss is concentrated rather than all-over.
A topper doesn’t have to be a compromise. Matched right, it just looks like you: on a good hair day, every day.
Who toppers are best for
A great fit if you:
- Notice thinning mostly at the crown or along your part
- Want coverage you can put on and take off yourself
- Aren’t a candidate for extensions but still want fullness
- Like the idea of staying in control of your own solution
Toppers pair naturally with the way I approach fine and thinning hair in general: start with what’s actually happening on your scalp, then choose the lightest, most natural thing that solves it.
Getting the match right
The difference between a topper that disappears and one that doesn’t is all in the fitting. I match the color, texture, and density to your own hair, then blend the perimeter so there’s no visible line where yours ends and it begins. I’ll also teach you how to place it, secure it, and care for it so it feels like second nature at home.
When a topper isn’t enough
If your thinning is widespread rather than concentrated, a topper may not give you the seamless coverage you deserve, and in that case I’ll be honest and walk you toward mesh integration, which is built for more significant loss. And if you’re dealing with sudden or patchy shedding you haven’t discussed with a doctor, please start there first. I’d always rather guide you to the right answer than fit you with the wrong one.
Let’s see what fits you
I can’t match a topper from a photo. I need to see your hair, your color, and where you’ve thinned. Thirty minutes in my chair and you’ll know exactly whether a topper is your answer, with a real plan and zero pressure.

Common questions
What's the difference between a topper and extensions?
Extensions add length and density by attaching to your own hair throughout. A topper is a smaller piece that sits over a specific area, usually the crown or part, to add coverage exactly where you've thinned. Many clients choose a topper precisely because the thinning is concentrated in one spot rather than all over.
Will a topper look obvious?
Not when it's matched and fitted properly. I match the color, texture, and density to your own hair and blend the edges so it disappears into what you have. The goal is that no one (including you, most days) thinks about the fact that it's there.
Can I put it on and take it off myself?
Yes. Toppers are designed to be worn and removed by you, which is one of the reasons clients love them: you stay in control. I'll teach you exactly how to place, secure, and care for yours so it feels effortless at home.
How do I know if a topper is right for me?
It comes down to how much hair you have and where you've lost it. Toppers shine for concentrated crown or part thinning. If your loss is more widespread, I might point you toward mesh integration instead, and if a topper is perfect, I'll tell you that too. That's what the consultation is for.
