For loss at the crown and part

Confidence with Crowns, certified.

Extensions add length and fullness, but they cannot cover the crown or a widening part. That is a different problem and it needs a different answer. Confidence with Crowns is the system I am certified in for exactly this, and it is the one I reach for when the loss is concentrated rather than all over.

When extensions are the wrong tool

There is a specific moment I see often. Someone comes in asking about extensions, and within a minute of looking at their hair it is clear that extensions are not what they need. The density at the sides and back is fine. What has changed is the crown, or the part has widened, and no amount of added length addresses that.

Extensions attach to your existing hair. Where the hair has thinned most is exactly where there is least to attach to, and adding weight there is the last thing that hair needs. So the honest answer is a different one.

What the certification actually covers

Confidence with Crowns is a system built around custom pieces for this pattern of loss, and the training runs through both the technical side and the consultation.

The technical part is fitting and blending so the piece reads as your own hair. The other part is the conversation, and I would argue it matters just as much. Hair loss brings people into my chair in a very different state from someone booking a color appointment. Knowing how to have that conversation with care, and knowing when to say that a topper is not your answer, is part of what the training is for.

It is one of nine certifications I hold, and it is the one I lean on when loss is concentrated rather than general.

How a fitting works here

We start privately. This is not a conversation I want you having at a busy front desk, and it is not one I rush.

I look at what you actually have. Where the loss is, how it is progressing, what your own hair can still do. That determines whether a crown is right at all.

We match to your real hair. Colour, texture, and the way your hair sits. An obvious match is a bad match.

I cut it in. The blend is what makes it disappear, and it is the part that separates a good result from an obvious one.

If a crown is not the right answer

Sometimes it is not, and I will say so.

For loss that is more significant, mesh integration may be the better system. For thinning that is spread out rather than concentrated, lightweight extensions might genuinely help after all. And if what I am looking at seems medical rather than cosmetic, I will tell you that plainly and suggest you start there.

My page on women’s hair loss covers how I think about the whole picture, and the toppers and hair pieces page covers the practical side.

Come and talk it through

Text me at (480) 209-2532. The consultation is complimentary, it runs about thirty minutes, and it is private and unhurried. You will leave knowing what your options actually are, with no pressure to take any of them.

Is this right for you?

Let’s be honest about fit.

A great fit if you…

  • See more scalp at the crown or along your part
  • Have been told extensions cannot help your kind of thinning
  • Want coverage that looks like your own hair, not a wig
  • Would rather have this conversation privately

We should talk first if you…

  • Are looking mainly for added length rather than coverage

Not sure where you land? That’s exactly what the complimentary consultation is for.

Good to know

Common questions

What is a crown, in this context?

It is a custom hair piece designed to sit over the crown and part area, where thinning shows first and where extensions genuinely cannot help. Fitted and blended properly it reads as your own hair, because it is worked into your own hair rather than sitting on top of it as an obvious separate object.

How is this different from a wig?

A wig replaces your hair. A crown works with the hair you still have, covering the area where density has gone while your own hair frames and blends it. Most of my clients here have plenty of hair at the sides and back, and the problem is concentrated at the top. That is precisely the situation this system is built for.

Why does the certification matter?

Because fitting one badly is worse than not fitting one at all. The training is as much about the consultation as the technique: understanding the kind of loss you are dealing with, matching honestly, and knowing when a topper is not the right recommendation. Hair loss is not a purely technical conversation and it should not be handled like one.

Will people be able to tell?

Not when it is matched and cut in properly, and that is the whole job. I will also tell you honestly at the consultation if I think your particular pattern of loss will be difficult to hide, rather than letting you find that out afterwards.

What if my hair loss has a medical cause?

Then that conversation comes first. If what I am seeing looks like something a doctor should look at, I will say so before we discuss any hair piece at all. Plenty of clients end up doing both, and there is no reason a medical answer and a cosmetic one cannot run alongside each other.

Complimentary consultation

The only way to know is to sit down with me.

Consultations are complimentary, take about thirty minutes, and you leave knowing exactly what your options are, even if the answer is “not yet.”
